If you're a wreck diver you will love the twin wrecks, if
you're not a wreck diver don't worry we can accommodate you
with either the training you need or provide you with an experienced
dive guide.
The wrecks are within ten minutes of Tutukaka making them
very accessible. A single wreck dive will only take you approximately
two hours if you cannot afford to take a day out for the Poor
Knights or to dive the twin wrecks.
HMNZS Waikato
Was a commissioned lender class frigate for the New Zealand
navy until it was retired and sunk off the coast of Tutukaka
now it is a divers playground. Purpose sunk for diving it
is a great adventure.
The Waikato is in very good condition and generally the visibility
and surface conditions are good due to its location. There
is an abundance of fish life which have made the Waikato their
home. There are purpose cut access and exit points to allow
penetration only for those that are suitably qualified.
HMNZS Tui
The Tui was the first vessel to be sunk of Tutukaka, she was
a Hydro Graphic Spy Ship and is a fantastic dive, an abundance
of fish life make for a great photography dive.
The Tui is 63 metres in length and had a career that spanned
over 35yrs. It was involved with the 1995 protest against
nuclear testing in Mururoa which gives this vessel a link
to the Rainbow Warrior.
So don't miss the chance to dive a bit of history while you
are in Northland. Come and join the team aboard Adrenalin
Charters, we are here to make your dives enjoyable and safe.
